Towards Self-Managing Real-Time Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
Upon first consideration, the Self-Managing Systems (and specifically Autonomic Systems) paradigm may seem to add too much additional functionality and overhead for systems that require strict real-time behavior. From our experience, not only does the Real-Time Systems area benefit from autonomicity, but the autonomic systems initiative requires the expertise of the RTS community in order to achieve its overarching vision. We briefly highlight some of the design considerations we have taken in incorporating selfmanagement into Real-Time Systems.

Managing the Implementation and Use of Real Time Collaboration: When Vision Meets Reality
The paper studies the specifics of implementing a platform technology in an organization which regards IT as core competence and prides itself as particularly employee focused and friendly. As result of strategic alignment, management has developed a vision of how Real Time Collaboration can contribute to the future concept of the company and the enactment of the organizational leitidee of an i...
متن کاملTowards Very Large, Self-Managing Distributed Systems
As distributed systems tend to grow in the number of components and in their geographical dispersion, deployment and management are increasingly becoming problematic. For long, there has been a tradition of developing architectures for managing networked and distributed systems [2]. These architectures tend to be complex, unwieldy, and indeed, difficult to manage. We need to explore alternative...
متن کاملTowards Self-Managing QoS-Enabled Peer-to-Peer Systems
Peer-to-peer systems that dynamically interact, collaborate and share resources are increasingly being deployed in wide-area environments. The inherent ad-hoc nature of these systems makes it difficult to meet the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of the distributed applications, thus having a direct impact on their scalability, efficiency and performance. In this paper we propose adaptive ...
متن کاملTowards Knowledge Management In Autonomic Systems
The classical definition of knowledge management promises to get the right knowledge to the right people at the right time so they can make the best decision [1]. Autonomic systems, on the other hand, are expected to find and apply the right knowledge for self-managing purposes without human intervention. This article discusses the components to be built around a system to enable self-healing a...
متن کاملSelf-Organization of Open Complex Distributed Systems
Self-organization has been investigated for long in a very broad range of areas. However, only till recently has self-managing and self-organizing computing received intensive attention. The purpose of this paper is to discuss some of important basic problems of selfmanaging and self-organizing computing, including the essence of self-managing computing, generic architecture of computing, real ...
